Labelling
Insured letter cannot be addressed to two or more people, with the exception of cases where these constitute a firm
or company. The value must be stated on the consignment and the letter must be sealed with special tape that is approved by
Posten. The signature or company stamp must be put under the tape. Sealing tape can be bought from Posten.
In Norway
Value label; the value must be written on the letter. The value can be given as the actual or a lower value, max NOK
40,000. The actual value of money and stamps must be stated. The letter must be sealed with sealing tape.

Collection
To be collected, on receipt of a collection message, by the recipient at their post office, in-store post office or
from their rural postman/woman.
Collection deadlines 2 weeks
A reminder will be sent to the recipient after 1 week. The consignment will be returned to the sender if it is not
collected within the deadline.
Public holidays during the Christmas season
Consignments that should have been returned during the period from 23 December to 31 December, will be returned on the
first working day of the new year.
Public holidays during Easter
All consignments that receive duplicate messages during the period from the Friday before Palm Sunday until the second
working day after Easter will be given an alternative return date + 5 days compared with the normal return date.
Summer vacation
Consignments that should have been returned during the period from 15 July to 1 August will be returned on 1 August.
Insured letter, domestic
NOK 260 for a letter with a value of up to NOK 10,000.
Thereafter NOK 3 per NOK 1,000.
An extra charge is made for postage for the letter and sealing tape, if required.
Sealing tape
NOK 10.50 per letter for tape for sealing (insured) letters.
What is an insured letter?
Letter consignments for which a receipt is issued when posted. You receive proof that your consignment has been dispatched.
The recipient receives a collection message and must sign and produce identification in order to collect the consignment.
What is the compensation limit?
Up to NOK 40,000. In some cases, it is more economical to send as a packet, e.g. Smartpost Box. Compensation for Smartpost
Box is up to NOK 10,000.
Are there any restrictions on the types of format that can be used?
All letter formats within Posten’s minimum and maximum measurements can be used.
