Delivery times
A-Priority plus 1 day, i.e. 2-3 days in Norway, 3-5 days in Europe and within 11 days to the rest of the world.
Tracking
Consignments can be tracked by means of the consignment number.
Restrictions
Sending mail within Norway: No money or marketable securities. Sending mail abroad: No money/banknotes, gold, silver, platinum, precious stones or other valuable items. The receiving country’s own content restrictions also apply.
Registered letter is a distribution product which provides you with a proof of posting receipt and requires the recipient to produce a valid proof of identity on collection. A nominated representative can collect the consignment on behalf of the addressee on production of written authorisation from the consignee.
1. Delivery of registered letters
1. Speed of delivery
The guideline delivery time is as for A-Priority + 1 day.2. Posting prepared registered letters
The customer must ensure that registered letters are prepared as follows:
• Franked (with stamps, franking machine or postage paid)
• Affixed registered label/number
• Entered on a receipt list or in a receipt book
• Delivered in the order shown in receipt lists/receipt book
• With more than 100 consignments, the receipt list and letters must be sorted according to postcode3. Posting unprepared registered letters

Registered letters that:
• are to be paid by invoice (deliver consignment note or order form)
• and/or are delivered according to a collection agreement with Posten, must be prepared by the customer; see point 2.5. Postage paid
Postage paid text can be downloaded here (norwegian language). The postage paid text must be placed within the area specified.6. Sender/return address
The sender/return address must be clearly marked on consignments stamped with postage paid.7. Receipt book/receipt list
The receipt list or receipt book must be clearly marked with the sender’s name and address. Receipt books must be numbered if more than one is used.8. Registered number and barcode
A special dispatch number, printed on the registered label, is used for tracking consignments. Registered labels can be ordered from postbutikken.no. Customers can be given their own registered number series for the production of their own barcodes in accordance with specifications. An order form and specifications for the production of barcodes can be obtained from your Posten contact.9. Envelopes
There are no special requirements concerning envelopes other than that they must be within the minimum and maximum measurements for letter post.10. Addressing
A registered letter cannot be addressed to two or more people with the exception of cases where these constitute a firm or company.11. Maximum weight

When delivered to your post office, registered letters must be arranged in the same order as entered in the receipt list/receipt book. If you are sending more than 100 consignments at the same time, the receipt list and consignments must be sorted according to postcode; see point 2.13. Posting registered letters
Registered letters must be posted over the counter at your post office, in-store post office or handed to your rural postman/woman. Registered letters must not be placed in letter boxes.14. Return of consignments that deviate from the product terms
Registered letters that fail to meet the terms described under point 1 Delivery of registered letters (points 1-14) and Posten’s general terms of delivery may be refused, returned or delayed.
2. Collection of registered letters
Registered letters can be collected when a collection message is received. The recipient must sign and produce approved identification. In cases where authorisation is used, see Identification and authorisation.
1. Collection deadlines
Registered letters that are not collected within two weeks from the collection point will be returned to the sender. After 7 days, a reminder (duplicate message) will be sent to the recipient of the letter.2. Extended collection deadlines
Public holidays during the Christmas season: Consignments that should have been returned during the period from 23 December to 31 December, will be returned on 3 January in the new year. Public holidays during Easter: All consignments for which duplicate messages are received during the period from the Friday before Palm Sunday until the second working day after Easter will be given an alternative return date + 5 days compared with the normal return date. Summer vacation: Consignments that should have been returned during the period from 15 July to 1 August will be returned on 1 August.
3. Posten’s liability to pay damages
Posten’s liability to pay damages is regulated under §22 of the Norwegian Postal Service Act and points 13-16 of Posten’s general terms of delivery. Liability to pay damages for registered letters is up to NOK 1,000 per consignment.
