  • 2 January 2014 - Wildlife in Norway

    Two well-known animals from the Norwegian fauna are represented on the first stamps of the year. In their own way, the red deer and the badger have both shaped an important space for themselves in the Norwegian fauna.

  • 2 January 2014 - The 150th Anniversary of the Norwegian Church Abroad

    Although the number of Norwegian seamen is declining, more and more people are visiting the Norwegian Church Abroad in the 80 countries in which it operates. Many Norwegians residing abroad for shorter or longer periods use the Church as a religious, cultural and social meeting place.

    The last Winter Olympics were held in 2010 in Vancouver, a city that experiences above zero temperatures in the winter.

    Viking tourism in Norway gained popularity with the opening of the Viking Ship Museum in Oslo in 1926.

  • 28 April 2014 - 100th anniversary of the birth of Thor Heyerdahl

    When the Olympics in Lillehammer in 1994 were going to use the world's most prominent and wellknown Norwegians outside the Royal Family to host the opening ceremony, they chose Liv Ullmann and Thor Heyerdahl.

  • 16 May 2014 - Personalised stamp

    In the past few years, tourism in several areas of northern Norway has doubled in the winter. Most of the growth stems from a rising interest in experiencing the Northern Lights, which glow in the northern Norwegian winter sky.

  • 16 May 2014 - The Norwegian Constitution bicentennial

    Two hundred years ago a group of men gathered at Eidsvoll to create the laws that would form the foundation of an independent Norway.

  • 13 June 2014 - 100th anniversary of the birth of Alf Prøysen

    Alf Prøysen would have celebrated his 100th birthday this year 23 July, and Norway Post is commemorating this day with two stamps. Unfortunately this popular artist was taken from his huge audience in 1970 at the age of only 57.

  • 1 August 2014 - Norwegian Chess Federation Centenary

    As arrangements for the Chess Olympiad in Tromsø fall into place, Norway Post is celebrating the Norwegian Chess Federation (NSF) with a new stamp issue.

  • 12 September 2014 - Posthorn

    Some years ago, Norway Post calculated that over 5 billion posthorn stamps had been produced in this, the world’s longest-running series of stamps

    While Christmas cards have brightened up the darkness of December for many Norwegians for more than 130 years, Christmas stamps are a much more recent phenomenon.

  • 21 November 2014 - Nordia 2014

    NORDIA 2014, the Nordic stamp exhibition, will be held at Norway Trade Fairs in Lillestrøm on 21–23 November. Norway Post is issuing a miniature sheet to celebrate the event.
