World Mental Health Day, 10 October, is an international UN day observed in over 150 countries with the aim of fostering greater openness, knowledge, and community around mental health.

Domesticated Animals

The Norwegian White Sheep is the most common sheep breed in Norway, while the Norwegian Dairy Goat is considered a national breed.

Broadcasting Centenary

The first Norwegian broadcasting programmes were transmitted from a transmitter in Oslo in April 1923. Regular broadcasts began in February 1925, when the private company Kringkastingsselskapet A/S was granted a licence to operate within a 150-kilometre radius around Oslo.

Emigration to North America Bicentenary

In addition, this year we are commemorating an important historical anniversary: 200 years since the first organized Norwegian emigration to North America. Between 1820 and 1920, around 800,000 Norwegians emigrated to the USA and Canada. The emigration anniversary is marked with two stamps designed by Martin Mörck.

Year of Outdoor Recreation

This year, we are celebrating the Year of Outdoor Recreation. In collaboration with Norsk Friluftsliv, we hosted a photo contest last year, where participants could submit photos showcasing their joy of outdoor life. We received around 3,000 entries, and four of these have now been turned into stamps.

Stavanger 900th Anniversary

Posten is issuing two stamps for the 900th anniversary of Stavanger. The stamps feature the cathedral and Aleksander Kielland, and a street scene from Andasmauet.

UN Biodiversity Agreement

The world has never set such high goals for nature conservation as it does now. The UN's nature agreement aims to stop human destruction of nature and begin to restore what has already been lost. Norway Post is highlighting the agreement with a stamp featuring beach cleaning.
