Per Post

0161 Oslo

Postal address to recipient without street address, but are using a place name:

Per Post

When a city have multiple P.O.Box facilities the name of the facility must be added:

Here the shipment is addressed to the company, but by this person:

Using a farm name together with the postal address

A farm name is not part of the postal address when a street name is available. If the sender wants to use a farm name in addition to a postal address, this should be placed on a separate line before the postal address:

Finn Farmer
Rustad gård
Hadelandsveien 1977
1488 Hakadal

Using residential number together with the postal address

Residential number is not part of the postal address. If the sender wants to use this in addition to the postal address, this should be placed on a separate line and after the key word "Residential number"*) before the address line:

Per Post
Residential number H0302
Storgata 15
0161 Oslo

Residential number is not be used if there is only one residence in the street address.. Residential number is not be used together with other addresses than street addresses.
If c/o addressing is used, place the residential number on a separate line:

Linda Letter
c/o Per Post
Residential number H0302
Storgata 15
0161 Oslo

*) Residential number ("Bolignummer") is used by the government to identify the residences with the same street address. The residence number contains of a letter and four numbers and must not be mixed up with the postal address. The residential number can be used if it is not getting in conflict with the actual postal address, see the examples above.

Each country have their own addressing rules for letter post. Almost all countries have their own postal code system. The most common system contains of 4-6 number. A few countries have chosen a system with both letters and numbers. The senders address should always be placed on the back of the shipment.

Furthermore, there are a number of variations regarding the location of the postal code in an address. The most common is in front of the place, for example 53225 Bonn.

Country codes

If you are shipping to a country that only uses postal number with numbers only before the the place name, you must add the country code in addition.
