We have been collecting used coffee capsules since 2014. Nespresso customers who ordered home delivery could easily deliver these to one of our postmen. In 2019, we made the return solution even better. In addition to still being able to deliver to the postman who arrived at the door at home, used coffee capsules can now also be delivered for recycling at all post offices and Post in Stores throughout the country.
Gro Flisnes, Local Brand Communication Manager at Nespresso in Norway, says that they have a clear goal of increasing the proportion of recycled capsules by making recycling both easy and accessible to everyone throughout Norway.
– Recycling aluminum saves 95 percent of the energy required to extract new aluminum. That is why we are particularly excited about our extended collaboration with Posten, says Flisnes.
A good environmental tip
In Norway, many are good at recycling plastic, bottles, paper and food waste. Nespresso capsules are made of aluminum that is infinitely recyclable. Recycled aluminum is extremely versatile and an estimated 75% of all aluminum produced is still in use today. Aluminum does not lose quality when it is recycled and can turn into new products over and over again. Your coffee capsules can thus turn into everything from new capsules and soda boxes to bikes! The coffee grounds can be reused in several innovative ways, including in fertilizers that enrich the soil in agriculture.
This is what you do
- Get a free recycling bag when you order or buy Nespresso capsules.
- Collect the used coffee capsules in the bag. The recycling bag holds 100 pcs. Original capsules or 50 pcs. Verduo capsules.
- Visit the Post Office and deliver the recycling bag to the person at the counter. The bag must be tightly closed so that it is sealed upon submission.
- You can also deliver the bag of used capsules to the postman when you receive home delivery of new coffee capsules.
