9 May 2016 – Think Green (Europa stamps)

This year’s Europa stamps aim to encourage both homes and businesses to think more about the environment.

The stamps can be included as a part of the campaign, which targets you and me. It has three goals: reduce, reuse and recycle.

Less consumption results in less waste, and we need to improve our daily routines to decrease pollution and energy consumption. More and more people are bringing their own bags when they go shopping. Have you also started to turn out the bathroom light? The list of habits that we can improve on is long.

At the climate summit in Paris in December 2015, an agreement was reached to set a goal of limiting global warming to less than 2 degrees, and preferably less than 1.5 degrees. Every country in the world has now said Yes to reducing carbon emissions, and the reporting obligation every fifth year will begin after 2018.

There has been a shift in people’s every day routines. We sort our trash at home, bike to work and «think green» in an entirely different way than we did before. This year’s Europa-stamp offers a chance to remind ourselves just how important this project is.
