Issue 11 November 2022 Volunteering

Without volunteers, Norway stops!

What would Norway be without volunteers? Volunteer work can be found in many areas and at many levels: everything from cutting grass and baking cookies to clearing plastic, lotteries, fundraising and relief efforts. There are about 100,000 volunteer teams and associations in Norway, active in everything from sports and culture to humanitarian efforts and the local community.

Following a proposal from the Association of NGOs in Norway, 2022 was named the Year of Volunteering. Throughout the year, volunteer organisations and volunteer policies in Norway were in the spotlight. The aim was not only to increase awareness and recognition and encourage more people to volunteer, but also to highlight the added value of volunteer efforts.
