This is how it works:

Choose the size. Enter the recipient’s and sender’s address.

Pay with Vipps or card.
Write the name and address in the middle of the item, and the code clearly in the top right corner. -
Letters can be handed in at any Posten branch or placed in a letterbox.

Send from own mailbox
Order a pickup if you do not want to deliver the shipment at Posten or in a red mailbox. Put the letters or parcel in your own mailbox and the mailman will pick it up on its route. More about send from own your mailbox

The letter will still be delivered to the address written on the envelope, but you may receive an invoice for insufficient postage.
No, the sending code is only valid for domestic letters. For postcards and letters without goods, we recommend using stamps.
For letters containing an item or something of value, please use our online ordering service. Here you will need to complete a digital customs form and print an address label.

A letter with a sending code is a new way of sending letters, where you purchase a unique code digitally and write it by hand on the envelope. The code is valid for 30 days after purchase and can be used for both small and large domestic letters.
- The price follows Posten’s price list for letters and applies to letters up to 2 kg.
- Minimum size: 9 × 14 cm
Maximum sizes:
- Small letter: 17.6 × 25 × 0.5 cm
- Large letter: 25 × 35.3 × 2 cm
- Maximum weight per item: 2 kg
- The code is valid for 30 days, giving you the flexibility to send the item whenever it suits you.
- Write the code clearly by hand in the top right corner of the envelope.
- The code consists of several characters spread over three lines – write them underneath each other for clarity.
- Ensure the code is easy to read for machine processing.
