Christmas 2025 shipping deadlines
Allow a little extra time and send the Christmas post on time. See further down for some indicative dates for parcels in Norway and letters abroad.
Sending Christmas mail abroad
If you are sending something of no value, such as Christmas cards and Christmas letters, customs documents are not required. For gifts of value, you can choose between sending it as a letter (under 2 kg) or a parcel (under 20 kg). Check sizes, price and delivery time for what suits you.

Letters of no value do not need customs documents. Buy postage at Posten.
Shipping deadlines for letters abroad:
- Sweden and Denmark: 15 December
- The rest of the Nordic countries: 12 December
- Germany: 12 December
- Ukraine: 5 December
- Rest of Europe: 10 December
- USA and Canada: 8 December
- Rest of the world: 5 December
Sending Christmas mail in Norway
When you are sending the Christmas parcels, there are a number of things that you may want to think about. See some smart tips.
Cards, letters and small parcels 0–350 g
Digital stamps are a simple alternative to physical stamps. You buy a code in the app or on the web that you write on the letter. If the shipment weighs more than 350 g, or you need secure delivery, you buy normal stamps or Norgespakke™.
0–5 kg
Parcel under 5 kg. Maximum dimensions are: up to 35 cm long, 25 cm wide and 12 cm thick. Shipping time 2–5 days. Only digital orders via posten.no or the Posten app, receipt by e-mail and limited tracking. Can be sent from your mailbox or delivered at Posten throughout Norway. Purchases via the Posten app can also be sent from parcel locker.
0–35 kg
Parcel with tracking and compensation. Shipping time 2–5 days. Print the address label, or take the QR code with you when you deliver the parcel to Posten. Select Cash on delivery at the end of the purchase if the recipient is to pay for the parcel or shipping.
0–35 kg
Shipped overnight. The recipient gets the parcel on their doorstep and you can track the parcel all the way.
Shippings deadlines for letters and small parcels in Norway:
- Deadlines as usual for letters, but due to the extra number of Christmas greetings you should calculate a few days earlier
- Norgespakke™ small: 18 December within southern or northern Norway, 16 December from southern to northern Norway and from northern to southern Norway
- Norgespakke™ small to Svalbard: 9 December
For parcels in Norway, use these dates:
- Norgespakke™ small: 18 December within southern or northern Norway, 16 December from northern to southern Norway and from southern to northern Norway
- Norgespakke™ small to Svalbard: 9 December
- Norgespakke™ large: 16 December
- Norgespakke™ large to Svalbard: 4 December
- Norgespakke™ express: 22 December
