Digital stamps

Instead of buying regular stamps, you can buy digital stamps. Digital stamps can be used as an alternative to physical stamps for letters and small packages up to 350 grams and less than 7 cm thick. You pay online and get a code that you write on the letter or package. Only on shipments in Norway and the code is valid for 7 days.

Stamps are sold individually, in booklets, on a roll and in entire sheets. You can buy stamps in our online store, at Posten or at gas stations, convenience stores, bookstores, etc.

You can use stamps on letters up to two kilos. The price is calculated according to the size and weight of your shipment. For letters that are more than 35.3 cm long or more than 25 cm wide; use price table for "More than 7 cm thick".

Pricing for letters in roll shape:
Diameter up to 7 cm and length up to 35.3 cm; use price table for "2–7 cm thick".
Diameter more than 7 cm or length over 35.3 cm; use price table for "More than 7 cm thick".
Maximum dimensions for roll: Length up to 90 cm. Length + double diameter not more than 104 cm.

Lacking postage

If a shipment is missing or has too little postage, the sender must pay missing postage and an additional fee. If we do not know the sender, it is the recipient who has to pay. 62.– kroner for invoice and 13.– kroner per letter. More about lacking postage

Send letters abroad

For all shipments containing value (goods, objects, passports, agreements and the like), the customs information/what is inside the shipment must be registered digitally. Use our self-service solution. 
For shipments you do not register digitally, you pay 38.– kroner for us to do the registration for you. Get in touch at one of our drop-off points.

Lacking postage and/or digital registration of customs documentation

If a shipment is missing or has too little postage, the sender must pay the missing postage and an additional fee of 62.– kroner + 13.– kroner per letter afterwards.
If digital registration of customs documentation is missing when delivered in a red mailbox or other self-service points, the sender will be invoiced 38.– kroner and a surcharge of 62.– kroner + 13.– kroner per letter afterwards.

Letters abroad

For letters without value (for example Christmas cards, letters, annual reports or other documentation): buy stamps at Posten and mark the letter with A-Priority.

For documents (such as passports, agreements and the like), and for gifts or goods: use our simple self-service solution for address labels and customs declarations. Customs information must show what the content is and must be registered digitally and in English. Write exactly what the content is; it does not hold to write "Gift". Enter sender, recipient and pay for shipping at the same time.

Maximum measures for letters are:
Length + width + thickness: 90 cm
Length: 60 cm
Letters exceeding maximum measures or is more than 2 kg, must be shipped as a parcel.

Question & answers about stamps and postage

  • You can exchange stamps in full sheets, rolls and stamp booklets at a post office or at the Frimerketjenesten. Single stamps cannot be exchanged. Price for exchange is NOK 33 per commenced 100 stamps. started.

    N.B.: Stamps can only be changed in other stamps, not in cash.

    The stamps must be exchanged within 12 months of the time of purchase and you must show a receipt.

  • Stamps without inflicted value are always valid for letters up to 20, 50 or 100 grams within Norway, up to 20 grams to Europe or to the rest of the world.

    The stamps are also valid in combination with other stamps to cover higher prices domestically or abroad.

  • The delivery times for letters and small parcels are 2–3 business days within Norway. To Europe the delivery time is 3–7 business days, and to the rest of the world 5–9 business days.

    From July 7, 2020, we switch to delivery and collection of mail in the mailbox every other day. See more about what the changes entail for you.

  • Letters: Length up to 60 cm.
    Length + width + thickness not exceeding 90 cm.
    Role: Length up to 90 cm.
    Length + double diameter not exceeding 104 cm.

  • Letters: 9 x 14 cm.
    Role: Minimum length 10 cm.
    Length + double diameter must at least be 17 cm.

  • If you send mail with insufficient postage, we ensure that your shipment anyway arrives its destination. We pay for the lack of postage, and send you as the sender a bill. If the sender is not specified, the bill will be sent to the recipient. Shipping cost for this service is 61.– kroner, plus 12.– kroner per letter.
